DABS 101 - A BEGINNERS GUIDE TO CANNABIS CONCENTRATES

Shatter, wax, oil, crumble, budder… these are only some of the popular names used to describe a variety of cannabis extracts or "dabs". The vast number of names might lead you to believe that are distinct differences between each type of dab, but these products are fundamentally the same - a highly potent oil containing extracted plant compounds from cannabis like THC and CBD. The process of extraction can vary depending on the type solvent, equipment, heat, time, and starting materials. The different names of dabs really just refer to the varying consistency that each extraction process yields. Here's a quick breakdown of the dabs that are most common:Shatter, wax

SHATTER

Shatter is a solid but sticky with a sheen/glass-like appearance. Shatter is one of the most recognized concentrates. It is easy to manipulate and is far less messy than other varieties of concentrates or extracts.

WAX

As the name suggests, wax resembles the texture of candle wax. Wax is also a broad term that can describe a variety of consistencies including crumble, honeycomb, budder and more (yes, we know - this is confusing).

CRUMBLE

Crumble is typically used to describe wax that is already broken up, since it always tends to crumble. It's a good option for dab-friendly vape pens.

BUDDER

Budder or badder is waxy in appearance but tends to be gooey enough to be stirred.

At the end of the day, all of these products are intended for vaping and dabbing. Don't overthink it - the names are just guidelines for finding the consistency that matches your preference.
